Westlake Hills, Texas 2014
Bridge House was designed as an ideal bachelor pad for a high-tech executive and book collector, who likes to entertain. The guest suite was designed specifically for his parents, who visit periodically from their home in Europe.
The driving force behind the design and stylist approach to the home is the owner’s preference for simple, angular forms. Nestled into the hillside, the home is approached via a bridge that overarches a creek on the property. The main level features large living areas as well as a gourmet kitchen. The master bedroom and office are upstairs, as is the guest house.
Perhaps the most striking feature of the home is the cantilevered swimming pool on the second level. The end of the pool is constructed in glass, allowing a view to the hill country below. Materials for the home include metal panels, stucco, board-formed concrete, steel and Ipe wood decks. The home is currently under construction by Edward Gordon Builders and is slated for completion in the summer of 2015.
