Rosedale Neighborhood in Austin, Texas

The owner wanted a total remodel of this central Austin home dating to 1961- bumping the home from 900 square feet to 2,000. Our approach was to match the low-slung roofs of the neighboring houses rather than create a towering new house, as some nearby had done.

The butterfly roof over the entry is supported by a “V” shaped column painted red, as a playful reference to mid-century design. The ceiling in the living room is vaulted, and a “cloud” ceiling is dropped to define the kitchen.

In the back of the house there is a large deck and outdoor kitchen for entertaining, and a guest house/office. Note before and after photos. This house will be featured on the Modern Homes Tour 2014 on February 1, 2014.
